It's been busy here at FIRE since we last talked.
 
We started the month at the National Speakers Association annual meeting.  We had a booth in their trade show.  We let them know that they could call on any of our certified firewalk instructors to help them facilitate a firewalk.  I will use our registry when I get inquiries.  If you have not signed up yet, do so at Register Here.

We continued the month at the World Education Congress of Meeting Professionals International.  4300 meeting planners were in attendance, MANY are interested in adding firewalks to their next event.
 
We will keep doing advertising and trade shows to increase awareness about firewalking.  My goal is too keep every Executive and Master Instructor busy with as many seminars as they want.
 
Our upcoming FIT (Firewalk Instructor Training) is getting more exciting by the moment.  At each Dallas event, prospective students always start their training by attending a 10-hour public seminar, ending with a firewalk.  This time the universe also is delivering a 100 person corporate seminar two days after the event.  Students, who want to stay, will get first hand experience working a corporate event.  This is an event not too miss.  Already certified?  Join us for only $995.
 
Within the next week or so, our new website will be completed.   The focus of the website is changing to highlight public seminars.   The concept of the website is simple - You can make the website YOURS!  Advertise your events on our site.  Firewalking.com gets more hits than all other firewalk sites combined.  Take advantage of this power.  Registration is the first step.  You will be alerted to a webinar in the next coming weeks, so that you can tour and learn to use the website.

Gingerly, oh so gingerly, I placed my bare foot down onto the pile of broken glass that had been spread onto a blanket across the meeting room floor.  Focusing on staying balanced and, well, not getting pierced by shards of jagged glass, I lowered my body weight down onto my foot, then carefully lifted and set down my other foot.  A few steps later I emerged unscathed from the 50 pounds of broken glass, and for someone with feet as pampered as mine, it was quite an accomplishment.  Of course walking on broken glass is mere child's play for individuals looking to experience life more fully and completely.  In fact I have broken boards and bricks with my hands, and even snapped an arrow by placing the point against my throat and then thrusting my body against it while another person held it.  I keep my framed picture of the stunt in my office - complete with the broken arrow - to prove it and to remind myself of the power of our minds.  So who am I, who is this Dr. Frank, and why is she walking over hot coals and getting others to do the same? 
 
The idea in performing all these tests or as I refer to them as "opportunities" of your will is to help people conquer their fears and free themselves for higher achievement - a mind-over-matter mentality that proposes if one can walk through fire, one can do anything!  I do believe that "walking through fire" is a metaphor for life and that there are many events other then the actual participation in a Firewalk that constitute "walking through fire."  But that is a completely different article.
 
I was taught the art of firewalking by Tolly Burkan, who created the Firewalking Institute of Research and Education (FIRE) in 1977, and is generally considered the father of the firewalking movement.  He claims that over two million people have walked on glowing coals without harm since his first firewalking class 28 years ago - all in the name of helping people push past their self-imposed limits and become more spiritually alive.  Burkan also points out, however, that over the years many people who weren't properly trained were injured when they attempted to walk on fire, which resulted in a lot of bad publicity.  "Never forget that there is definitely an inherent risk in firewalking," Burkan writes on his website.  And now, Charles Horton has taken over for Tolly and is bringing the same opportunity to learn the art of firewalking to others.   
 
A friend introduced me to firewalking in 1985, and it showed me the power of intent, and how your thoughts impact everything in your life and help you overcome hardships - and I've had plenty.  My mom died when I was a teenager and my father disappeared after that event.  For many years I was a single parent and oftentimes had to resort to surviving off welfare and food stamps.  In 1998 while living in Valley Forge, PA, and during a particularly severe winter storm that dumped over 30 inches of snow, I decided I had enough of the cold, and was ready for a change.  So I took a dart and threw it at a map of the United States and it consistently landed on Charlotte, North Carolina and off I went with my daughter in tow.  The first thing I saw when we got there was the giant pink Church on Hwy. 51, and I thought I'm in Oz.  This is home. 
 
I am never surprised by what people get out of my programs because of my "utter belief in God".  You are going to get what you need, it may not be what you want, but you can be certain it is what you need; whatever happens during the process is what's right for you at this time."
 
Immediately after my training with Tolly I went home and began to spread the word about this new opportunity I was bringing to the area.  At first I mostly received comments of, "are you for real? Or no one can do that."  I knew I'd need some FREE publicity to get it going and hence I offered free tickets to anyone and everyone that would be willing to attend my 4 hours to Personal Power Program that culminated with a Firewalk.  I sent information out to every radio station, television and newspaper.  I told 5 people a day what I was up to and did they know anyone that could benefit from "rapid transformation."  After just 2 weeks I landed myself on NBC news, and in 4 newspapers and one magazine. 
 
Let me close with this story.  I received a phone call from a gentleman from out of state.  During our conversation I found out he was referred to me by Tolly and that as he stated, "I don't see very well at night and would this be a problem to doing the process?"  I said no and not to worry.  On the evening of the event at our retreat location I hear a knock at the door and of course I told the person to come in.  As he walked through the door I then heard the sound of tap, tap, tap, tap, going back and forth, left side and then right side.  I looked up and said, "John you are blind!"  He said he knew he was blind and did not tell me prior to paying and getting there because he feared we would not let him participate."  I of course looked at him and said, "you don't know me!  And if your intentions are to do this process we will make it happen."  In fact he did every single challenge and did it beautifully.  He has returned with more participants and lots of new opportunities for us Firewalk Instructors.
 
The Firewalking process teaches intention and my intentions were clear to bring this process to as many people as possible.  I would like to credit Tolly in ensuring that those people wanting to participate in a Firewalk program find one of his trained instructors as he consistently gave people my information.  I am certain that Charles and his group will be doing the same for those trained to conduct the Firewalk seminars.

That's Not My Reality!
 
I recently heard Master Firewalk Instructor, Charles Horton say it aloud.  He was talking on the phone to his attorney who was giving him some "not so good" news.  "That's not my reality", said Charles.  He simply would not accept the bad and impending news. As he hung up the phone he turned to me and said, " Everyone looks at life differently".  What he meant by that was that everyone processes information according to his or her own belief system. Two people can receive the same information and come up with two entirely different conclusions.  Aside from Charles being a Master Firewalk Instructor, he is also what I call a "master thinker".  He has learned how to shape his reality beyond that of anyone I have ever met.  As a master thinker, he has created happiness and wealth far beyond what others could only imagine.  He understands and continually practices the fine art of The Law Of Attraction and manages his thoughts as to create only the outcome that he desires.  This may seem somewhat esoteric to some, but to others who understand this universal principle, this represents the pinnacle of manifestation.
 
Henry Ford said it best when he proclaimed, "Whether you think you can or you can't, your right".
 
It's a fact that our thoughts govern our reality and what you get out of life is a direct correlation to the quality of your thoughts.  Many of us understand this principle, but few have mastered it to the degree that Charles has.  With only a high school education under his belt, Charles has created a reality for himself that is unsurpassed.  He is a self-made multi-millionaire and lives in his 12,000 square foot villa surrounded by pools, streams and his private catfish and coy stocked lake.  Yes, it's true, he has created avalanches of abundance that all started with a single thought.  "I can do this," a simple but powerful mantra!
 
As a Master Firewalk Instructor, this is one of the principles that Charles teaches in his Firewalk Instructor Training programs.  His teachings and his ability to communicate this principle through the firewalk seminar have changed the lives of many.  "Walking barefoot over a hot bed of burning coals is the best example of this," says Horton.  If you think you are going to get burned, you will.
If you believe you will pass through the coal bed safely, you will." Yes, the firewalk instructor training is more than just learning how to conduct a firewalk.  It is actually a course in miracles.  The lessons of the firewalk are fundamental, as "Belief" is a direct command to our nervous system, which opens the floodgate to potential.  When FIT participants leave the seminar they not only have learned how to create a safe event, they also leave with a new outlook about what is possible.  This is perhaps one of the most powerful lessons of a lifetime for any of us.
 
The next Firewalk Instructor Training will be held in Dallas TX. September 18-21.  Master Instructor and Thinker, Charles Horton will be facilitating this event.  Upon conclusion of this program, participants will leave with much more than a certificate.  They will have learned that anything is possible and they have the immense power to create whatever they want as they travel through life's journey.
